Many people think that indoor plants are difficult to maintain. Lots and lots of watering, pruning and spraying, and above all: that plants always need lots of sunlight. However, nothing could be further from the truth! There are plenty of plants that are better off with a small amount of water, or that do not benefit from much sunlight at all<\/strong>. After all, nature is not sunny everywhere. Consider, for example, plants that live in rain forests in the shade of trees all the time.\n<\/p>\n

There are many plants that dry out quickly precisely because of this, if you put them in a spot in direct sunlight. A spot in the shade or semi-shade is better in this case, so these nice plants can be placed in the office just fine<\/strong>. In most cases, these plants are also low-maintenance. Therefore, you do not have to worry that they will die off quickly. <\/p>\n

The woman’s tongue or sanseviera<\/h2>\n

Women’s tongue bears the name “Snake plant” in English because of the unusual leaves of this office plant. These resemble snake tongues. The official name is Sansevieria and the plant belongs to the family of Agavaceae. This plant is found naturally in West Africa and India. The dieffenbachia<\/h2>\n

The dieffenbachia belongs to the arum family. It is a beautiful, tropical plant with beautifully drawn leaves<\/strong>. The philodendron<\/h2>\n

The Philodendron also has such an exotic appearance because this plant originates from tropical rain forests in South and Central America. The Philodendron is from the family of Araceae, making it a palm species<\/strong>. Read more about the Philodendron in the office<\/a> here. <\/p>\n

The calathea<\/h2>\n

Calathea belongs to the family Marantaceae. This beautiful office plant comes from jungles in South America and the Amazon region. In these places, the Calathea grows in the shade and therefore does not require direct sunlight. The anthurium<\/h2>\n

The Anthurium is best known for its beautiful flowers. The plant is also called Flamingo plant and belongs to the Aracea family. This plant comes from South America and is easy to care for because it grows mostly in the shade there as well<\/strong>. <\/p>\n

The spoon plant<\/h2>\n

The spoon plant is officially called Spathiphyllum and is native to tropical rainforests around Colombia and Venezuela. The spoon plant likes a warm and moist environment in the shade<\/strong>. The dragon blood tree<\/h2>\n

The dragon blood tree has the official name Dracaena and is found in Africa and in tropical areas around Asia and Central America. From the bark and leaves of the dragon blood tree comes a reddish resin, hence the unusual name. It is a great plant that does well in partial shade<\/strong>. The bromeliad<\/h2>\n

The bromeliad belongs to the family Bromeliaceae. The plant is actually a kind of tube of many colored leaves; the pineapple also belongs to the family. For this reason, the plant is also called tube plant. The bromeliad is native to South America, from the coast of Peru to the Andes mountains.
