Lots of green in the office: it not only looks hip and fresh. On top of that, it’s good for your health. Two birds with one stone. At first glance, plants in the office may seem to be there just for decoration. But nothing could be further from the truth: plants do have a function. Even flexible workplaces can certainly benefit from some greenery in the space. But why is it so good? And what kind of plants do you choose?

Plants in your flex space: the benefits

Many studies have already proven that more greenery in a workplace results in happier employees. Plants primarily provide clean air because they absorb CO2 and convert it into oxygen.

More oxygen in a room then causes the people in that space to be more cheerful and better able to concentrate. Other proven benefits include: increased creativity, higher productivity and finally, overall higher satisfaction. Plenty of reasons to visit a plant store!

Which plants are ideal for a flex space?

1. Plants that do not require much care

We all know that work has to be done in a flex space, so there is often little time for knick-knacks like plant care. If you have a busy schedule but still want to enjoy some greenery on your desk, we recommend going for plants that won’t die if you forgot to water them once. Yes, they do exist! Here are some of our favorites:

1.1 Spoon plant (spathifyllum)

This plant literally lets you know it needs water. In fact, the spoon plant lets itself droop when it craves some water. Once you hydrate it again, it immediately returns to its original form. Handy!

1.2 Cycas

The roots of the Cycas are extremely sensitive to too much water, which means that you will hardly have to water it. Only when the soil is really dry can you give it a little water again.

1.3 Aglaonema

The Chinese Evergreen can survive in just about all types of climates and weather conditions. Moreover, it is already satisfied with a few drops of lukewarm water.

2. Plants that don’t need much light

Most plants can’t do without their daily dose of sunlight. But unfortunately, not every flex spot is lucky enough to be bathed in sunlight in every nook and cranny. Fortunately, there are also plants that require little or even no sunlight to survive. Some options:

2.1 Dracaena (Dragon’s blood tree)

Dracula? No, it’s the Dracaena! This plant is allergic to direct sun and you can put it perfectly in places with semi-shade. In addition, you hardly need to water it. Ideal office plant!

2.2 Maranta Leucononeura (prayer plant)

The Ten Commandments plant likes cooler climates where the leaves will curl and wither in too much light. So direct access to the sun is a no-go.

2.3 Grass Lily

The Grass Lily is a popular plant that grows like a cabbage and is very content to be placed where there is no direct sunlight. In addition, this plant is known for air purification!
